Benjamins Artist Statement

"...I grew up in pool halls and dog tracks, listening to the old men forcing their views of the world on anyone willing to listen. Not having any place to go, I learned to listen to the stories of these weathered men and I watched intently to the breaks and changes of expressions on their faces as they reminisced, and or mostly lectured.  I noticed the brief instances of realism in their faces as they spoke and those images I knew was their true self, an innocence that goes unnoticed. Ever since then, I have always tried to find the “other” beauty in all that is offered to me. I want to allow others to see the glimpses of uniqueness that intrigue me."
